According to reports, Russia utilized Iranian drones to combat Ukrainian drones built in Turkey.

However, a number of US government sources have disclosed that Russia ran into technical issues in Ukraine when using the drone that was manufactured in Iran.

According to the US, according to the Associated Press, Russia has bought and delivered to Ukraine the Mohajer-6 and Shahed series drones, specifically the Shahed-129 and Shahed-191. The drones apparently saw action in the conflict in Ukraine.

The Washington Post was the first to reveal a cargo of drones from Iran to Russia.

According to CNN, Russia started sending operators and technicians to Iran in late July to conduct drone training.

Since beginning its invasion of Ukraine, Russia has been subject to financial sanctions and supply-chain limitations. As a result of its subsequent international isolation, Russia turned to Iran as a significant ally in the arms trade.

According to US authorities, Russia sent military planes to Iran for a multi-day delivery of UAV equipment to Moscow.

According to John Kirby, spokesperson for the White House National Security Council, the government had "no updates" regarding whether the Iranian drones had been delivered.

Hossein-Amir Abdollahian, Iran's foreign minister, stated last month that Tehran and Moscow have "various sorts of collaboration, including in the defense industry."

According to Newsweek, Russia has apparently bought an Iranian drone called the Shahed-129 that has a longer range than the Bayraktar TB2 drone.

According to reports, the Turkish drone's communication range is about 300 km, compared to the Shahed-129's reported communication range of 2,000 km.

The Shahed-129 drone can also transport a payload up to 400 kg. However, the Bayraktar TB2 drone can only move 150 kg of payload.

The Turkish drone is believed to be able to move more quickly than the Shahed-129 despite having a longer range and the capacity to carry heavier cargo.

The Bayraktar's top speed is somewhere between 222 and 149 kilometers per hour, whereas the Shahed-129's top speed is 149.

Turkish drones can also fly farther than Iranian drones, according to statistics from the Washington Institute.

According to reports, Turkish drones can fly for 27 hours but Iranian drones can only fly for 24.

The Bayraktar TB2 can fly higher than the Shahed-129 as well.

The Iranian drone can only ascend to a maximum altitude of 7,299 meters, compared to the Turkish drone's 7,620 meters.

Inquiries from Newsweek have been made to the Russian and Ukrainian defense ministries, but no responses have been received as of yet.
