World Sexual Health Day is celebrated annually on September 4. To continue to emphasize the value of preserving sexual health, this day is observed.
Many diseases can be spread through sexual activity. Sexually transmitted illnesses are the term for these conditions (STDs).
Whether penile to vaginal, anal, or oral penetration, sexual activity is how STDs are passed from one person to another.
The most prevalent STDs that afflict many people include syphilis, hepatitis B, gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and HPV.

1. HIV
The immune system is under attack by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). A person with HIV will therefore be vulnerable to other diseases.
HIV can also be passed from person to person via sharing needles, from mother to child during childbirth, or from mother to nursing infant.
HIV frequently only manifests as minor flu-like symptoms. Additionally, the virus can persist in the body for a long time without showing any signs of infection.
Antiretoviral therapy (ARV), one of the available medications, is only used to lower the virus count in the blood to undetectable levels.
2. Hepatitis B
Damage to the liver may result from chronic hepatitis B, which can last a lifetime. Some of them have the potential to cause fatal liver diseases like cirrhosis and liver cancer.
Patients with hepatitis B are only given medications to prevent irreversible liver damage. But the virus will continue to exist in the body.
3. HPV
One of the most prevalent STDs is the infection with the HPV (Human Papillomavirus). A person can contract HPV through oral contact, contact with young children, or through penetrating intercourse with an HPV-positive partner.
Unfortunately, traditional HPV symptoms are not present in the majority of cases. Genital warts in certain persons may develop as a result of HPV.
Warts are typically prevented from growing or treated by doctors with topical medicines. The infection will still be present in the body, though.
In some situations, HPV can lead to consequences like oral cancer, genital warts, and cervical cancer.
4. Herpes
One of the most prevalent STDs is herpes. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the herpes virus is present in two out of every three individuals under the age of 50.
Herpes comes in two different forms. These include herpes simplex-1 (HSV-1), which causes mouth sores, and herpes simplex-2, which causes genital sores.
Through contact with saliva or vaginal secretions from an infected individual, herpes can be very contagious.
Herpes is a virus that stays in your body for the duration of your life. Due to this, a person is more prone to herpes lesions recurring.
