Due to the conflict in Ukraine, Germany acquired the Russian corporation Rosneft in order to ensure energy supply.

According to the finance ministry, the Federal Network Agency has taken custody of Rosneft's German business, which makes up approximately 12% of the nation's capacity for oil refining.

Trust management, he declared, "will combat challenges to the security of the energy supply."

Three refineries—PCK Schwedt, MiRo, and Bayernoil—as well as the businesses Rosneft Deutschland GmbH (RDG) and RN Refining & Marketing GmbH (RNRM) are also part of this transfer.

Particularly for PCK Schwedt, which is close to the Polish border and provides 90% of the oil used in Berlin and the surrounding area, including the Berlin-Brandenburg international airport, worries have increased.

As a result of the German government's decision to reduce its imports of Russian oil, refinery operations have been disrupted. The goal is to terminate all imports by the end of the year.

German authorities might oversee refining activities using crude oil from nations other than Russia by seizing control of the corporation.
